    DJI Agras Drones seeded rapeseed

by Jenny | posted in: Log In | 0

In the early years, it was well known that DJI’s agricultural drones could be used to directly sow rice seeds. Once the seedlings emerged, the distribution was uniform, and the emergence rate was high, leaving farmers very satisfied with the results.

Beyond rice, the DJI drone sowing system is also well-suited for spreading clover, cover crops, rye, grass seeds, forest seeds, and more. Following successful tests, it can now efficiently sow rapeseed as well.

In many rapeseed-growing regions, irregular terrain and soil moisture make it challenging for large-scale ground planting machinery to operate effectively. When small seeders are used for direct seeding, there can be issues with uneven seed distribution and inconsistent emergence rates.

Here, we’d like to share a case study of rapeseed sowing using DJI Agriculture Drones.

    Spreading Parameter Test

Given the small particle size of rapeseed, around 1-2 mm, the drone’s flying height needs to be kept low. To ensure even distribution, one of the DJI agricultural drone teams conducted numerous tests. Ultimately, they identified the optimal operating parameters to achieve a seeding rate of 2.4-3 kg per acre.

    Operating parameters

    Crop Name Rapeseed Altitude 2M
Speed 4M/S  Turntable speed 650 RPM
Row distance 5M Opening Rate 20%

    Testing

After finding suitable operating parameters, in order to reassure local users, this team selected 10 acres of experimental fields for field tests.

After using the DJI Agriculture drone spreader for 4 days, the emergence of the rape seedlings made the local agricultural growers quite satisfied with the spreading effect of the DJI Agras spreader, and the task of planting more than 5,000 acres of rape was handed over to this team.

    Farmers feedback

After filling the seeds and fertilizer, tap the screen of the remote control, and the drone will sow the seeds on the land according to the set route.

It is very intuitive to see that the drone seeding is not restricted by the terrain, and the spreading accuracy is high and the efficiency is high. Everyone praised again and again: Drone sowing small seeds can be so convenient!

    Conclusion

The drone can perform precise seeding according to the area of the plot, avoid omission and duplication.
